FLAT DASH KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

A. ALIGNMENT- Always "dry fit" each piece before removing the masking from the 3M tape. Installation of a wood trim dash kit is an artistic process as opposed to a mechanical process. The mind's eye is critical to successful alignment during installation. The installer only has one chance to get it right, so be sure the alignment step has been precisely followed before removal of the protective masking from the adhesive surface.

B. RECEIVING SURFACE PREPARATION- Cleaning the receiving surface properly is the most important step for successful installations. DO NOT CUT CORNERS. Failure to conform to these instructions will cause unsatisfactory results and will void the manufacturer's warranty.

C. PRE-HEAT FOR WOOD FLEXIBILITY- Pre-heat instructions are outlined below.

D. PLEASE NOTE: HEAT WILL REMOVE FOAM PACKING IMPRESSIONS, SOMETIMES VISIBLE ON THE SURFACE OF THE EPOXY.

Follow the outlined steps in the order listed.

1. DENATURED ALCOHOL OR ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL- Available at any hardware store. Its purpose is to clean the receiving surface of the automobile. Be careful not to skip this step.

2. 3M 4298 ADHESIVE PROMOTER- Available with each kit is the hand wipe on sponge from the Manufacturer. The purpose of 3M 4298 Adhesive Promoter is to improve the adhesive bond of the 3M 4229 Tape Adhesive to the receiving surface.

3. After the wood trim kit is installed , clean the epoxy surface with Windex. Proper cleaning will remove prints, glue, etc., from the epoxy surface and provide a beautiful glossy luster finish for the wood trim package.

4. If these instructions are followed, the installer should have a successful installation. Improper installation creates problems that are destructive to your otherwise successful wood trim business.

PRE-HEAT
The wood trim kit is coated with an epoxy formula that is specifically formulated to reduce susceptibility to shrinking and cracking, commonly associated with extreme interior automobile temperatures.

Pre-heat each piece prior to installation to a temperature between 85-90 degrees F. (no hotter than comfortable to the touch) which increases the wood kit flexibility. This allows for conformation to the shape of the contours of the receiving surface. Heat the wood trim piece with the use of a heat gun, heat lamp or by placing the pieces indirect sunlight under the windshield of the vehicle. In colder climates, the use of the vehicle defroster will expedite the process.

MOLDED DASH KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Please read these instructions thoroughly before attempting to install the Molded Dash System components. The few minutes you take now to read and understand the process can save you time later.
CLEANING
1. All bonding surfaces must be CLEAN and DRY.
2. Apply the cleaning solvent, using the Alcohol wipes provided, or isopropyl alcohol. Wipe the area to be cleaned in ONE DIRECTION ONLY. A back and forth motion defeats the process by rubbing the dirt into the surface. DO NOT RUSH THE CLEANING PROCESS! Clean only the areas to be covered by the dash trim.
3. After cleaning, check the surface with a piece of scotch tape. The surface is cleaned properly ONLY if the scotch tape sticks well and is hard to pull off.
4. If the surface has been treated with a vinyl or leather protectant, it must be thoroughly cleaned to remove some of the protectant. After the cleaning, an adhesive promoter must be applied to the mounting surface.
PREPARATION
1. BEFORE attempting to permanently mount your dash kit, locate and trial fit each piece. DO NOT remove the adhesive liner until you are ready to permanently mount each part. If there is any problem or question with your kit please call customer service (800) 232-6922 , do not install any pieces. No returns once any pieces are installed.
2. Ideal mounting temperature is between 70 F and 100 F. DO NOT attempt to install the component pieces below 70 F.
MOUNTING THE DASH
1. Although not a substitute for cleaning, 3M primer was included with the kit. This primer will improve bond strength and should be used on the car dash in areas which will be in contact with the red tape.
2. Carefully remove the red 3M liner and FIRMLY press each part into position. A firm rubbing motion with a soft cloth will assure good adhesive contact.
3. Note: After installation, the initial bond strength is approximately 50%, increasing to 90% after 24 hrs, and 100% after 72 hours.
CARING FOR YOUR NEW DASH
Treat your new dash the same as you would a fine piece of furniture. Dust the finish with a soft cloth, and for long lasting beauty, apply a nonabrasive liquid wax.
