General Notes:Install the forward bed skirt (4184/05 or 4204/05 before installing the cab side skirts. If installing our kit with our roll pan (#4188) install the reasr bed skirts first (4187/01 or 4206/07), then install the roll pan. Also, when aligning our side skirts against the truck make sure that the bottom of the part is pitched outward somewhat.

Important: IF our side pieces are going to be installed in conjunction with our "Style" fender flare kit (3\#4210, 4 pieces) be sure to iunstall the flares first and then line up to top edges of our side pieces with the bottom of the flares.

Note: On the passenger side the 3/4" tape is used in the sill area the full length of our side skirt flange that sits on the truck under the doors. Also, instal 3- #8 x 3/4" screwws in the front, back, and in the middle through our sill flange area of the part into the truck sill
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE PRECEDING

We have provided complete instructions and in most applications specific hardware,3M tape, and specialized brackets or braces. The list of these items is listed on page two of the Instructions.
-Before starting please verify that they are included with the shipment.

Also verify that you received the correct Xenon part. All part numbers are embossed on the inside of the part. The list of part(s) is noted at the bottom of the page.

Tools & general materials required: #7447 Scotchbrite pads, TSP, or TING cleaners, sandpaper, various hand tools, drill, 7/64" and 7/64 x 12" drill bits, MEK, 3M #4298 adhesion promotor.

THERE ARE FOUR PHASES TO MOST INSTALLATIONS:

  1. Removal of factory parts that might interfere with the installation and TEST FIT the parts.
  2. Preparation of the parts for paint - and painting.
  3. Installation of the 3M tape (if applicable).
  4. Installation of the parts.

PHASE 1) REMOVAL & TEST FIT

- Remove all fender trim, body side molding, mud flaps, ect. that might interfere with the installation of the parts..
- TEST FIT the parts to verify excellent hit- outline their location with a grease pencil if required.

NOTE : Occasionally, our parts might seem to be slightly distorted upon test fit. If so, place them in the sun (if a warm day) or in a warm area for an hour or more.
Our urethane formula does have a considerable "memory" and they should return to their original as manufactured shape.

PHASE 2) PREPARATION OF PART FOR PAINTING& PAINT (if applicable)

- SAND edges as nexessary
- WASH paintable surfaces and the tape ledge w /3M #7447 Scothbrite pad, TSP, and warm water.
- SAND the paintable surfaces w/ 320 wet or dry - at this point the surface should appear to be a dull medium gray color, not shiny or black.
-CLEAN paintable surfaces with either Dupont 2319S or Sherwin Williams #R7K157 or #R7K158 or equivalent.
- FILL any slight imperfections, if applicable, with "Evercoat" glazing putty and sand smoot.
- APPLY masking tape over the inside tape ledge area.
- APPLY Dupont #2322 or Sherwin Williams P6C61 adhesion promoter or equivalent for painting a flexible polyurethane type material.
-APPLY basecoat/clearcoat following the paint manufacture's recommendation for painting a flexible polyurethane type material.

NOTE : Some painters prefer, after cleaning the surface to apply Dupont"Variprime" or equivalent, let dry and scuff with the gray Scotchbrite pad or sand 600, clean and then paint.

- DO NOT oven bake our parts above 130 and they should be well supported during this heat cycle.

PHASE 3) INSTALLATION OF THE 3M TAPE

- IF any paint overspray appears on the tape ledge SAND that paint off.
- WIPE tape ledge with Acetone or MEK
- SCRATCH the tape ledge with scotchbrite #7447 and MEK or Acetone. Then wipe the same area w/ MEK followed by the 3M #4298 adhesion promoter or "Probond".
- APPLY the tape, making sure to pull it slightly , V-cut as necessary going around curved areas and PRESS the tape on with the handle part of scissors.
- ALLOW the part to set with the tape applied for an hour or more in a warm area - this will help the curring process of the tape adhesive.

PHASE 4) INSTALLATION OF THE PART (perform in a warm area above 70 degrees)

- CLEAN the vehicle surface where the tape will contact with MEK, or a wax & grease remover.
- PULL up a corner of the ends of the red tape backing so that it is visible outsifde the edge of the part.
- PLACE the part in its correct porition, pull the red backing thom the tape 90 degrees from the edge of the part and stick the part by applying pressure where the tape is.The skirts need a slight pitch outward from the bottom for best fit.
- INSTALL the #8 screws providied. Do not overtighten.

NOTE : Some installers and restylers supplement or use in lieu of the tape and adhesive such as "Duramix" (Manufactured by Polymer Eng. Copr., 800.537.9204)
