PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE PRECEDING

We have provided complete instructions and in most applications specific hardware,3M tape, and specialized brackets or braces. The list of these items is listed on page two of the Instructions.
-Before starting please verify that they are included with the shipment.

Also verify that you received the correct Xenon part. All part numbers are embossed on the inside of the part. The list of part(s) is noted at the bottom of the page.

Tools & general materials required: #7447 Scotchbrite pads, TSP or TING cleaners, sandpaper, phillips screwdriver, drill, 7/64" drill bit, MEK, 3M #4298 adhesion promotor.

THERE ARE FOUR PHASES TO MOST INSTALLATIONS:

  1. Removal of factory parts that might interfere with the installation and TEST FIT the parts.
  2. Preparation of the parts for paint - and painting.
  3. Installation of the 3M tape (if applicable).
  4. Installation of the parts.

PHASE 1) REMOVAL

- Remove all fender trim, body side molding or mud flaps that might interfer with the fit of our parts.
- Test fit parts to verify excellent fit - outline with a grease pencil.

Note: Occasionally, our parts might seem to be slightly distored upon test fit. If so, place them in the sun (if a warm day) or in a warm area for an hour or more. Our urethane formula does have considerable "memory" and they should return to their original as manufactured shape.

- If the parts are NOT going to be painted, proced to Phase 3.
- If our fender flares are NOT going to be painted wash them with SIMPLE GREEN, dry and apply 303 Protectant or the Wax Shop "Bumper Black".

PHASE 2) PREPARATION OF PART FOR PAINTING& PAINT (if applicable)

- SAND edges of the parts as needed.
- WASH paintable surfaces and the tape ledge w/ 3M #7447 Scotchbrite pad, TSP, and warm water.
- SAND the paintable surface w/ 320 wet or dry - at this point the surface should appear to be a dull medium gray color, not shinny or black.
- CLEAN paintable surfaces with either Dupont 2319S or Sherwin Williams #R7K157 or #R7K158 or equivalent.
- FILL any slight surface imperfections, if applicable, with "Evercoat" glazing putty and sand smooth.
- APPLY masking tape over the insdie tape ledge area.
- APPLY Dupont #2322 or Sherwin Williams P6C61 adhesion promoter or equivalent.
- APPLY basecoat/ clearcoat following the paint manufacture's recommendations for painting a flexible polyurethane type material.

Note: Some painters perfer, after cleaning the surface, to apply Dupont "Variprime" or equivalent, let dry and scuff with the gray Scotchbrite pad or sand 600, clean and then paint.

-DO NOT oven bake or parts above 130 and they should be well supported during this heat cycle.

PHASE 3) INSTALLATION OF THE 3M TAPE

- IF any paint overspray appears on the tape ledge SAND that paint off.
- WIPE tape ledge with Acetone or MEK
- SCRATCH the tape ledge with scotchbrite #7447 and MEK or Acetone. Then wipe the same area w/ MEK followed by the 3M #4298 adhesion promoter or "Probond".
- APPLY the tape, making sure to pull it slightly , V-cut as necessary going around curved areas and PRESS the tape on with the handle part of scissors.
- ALLOW the part to set with the tape applied for an hour or more in a warm area - this will help the curring process of the tape adhesive.

PHASE 4) INSTALLATION OF THE PART (perform in a warm area above 70 degrees)
*** TIP: Most installers bend the vehicle fender lip DOWN (from 10-2 o'clock to an angle of 105 degrees -- the angle of the stock lip can actually be less than 90 degrees which will cause ANY fender flare to want to pull away from the body at the top of the flare)

- CLEAN the vehicle surface where the tape will contact with MEK or a wax & grease remover
- PULL UP a corner of end of the red tape backing so that it is visable outside the part edge.
- PLACE the part in it's correct position, pull the red backing from the tape and stick the part by applying pressure where the tape is.
- INSTALL the #8 screws provided. Do not overtighten.

NOTE :

Some installers and restylers supliament or use in lieu of the tape a structual adhesive such as "DURAMIX" (Manufactured by POLYMER ENGINEERING CORP - 800.537.9204)
