The underside of the side skirts has
a scribe mark on the inside where the side skirts needs to be trimmed
(removal of material) so that they fit the COUPE. The coupe
requires three #8x3/4" screws in the inside of the door from
the top of our part straight down into the plastic stock black part.

PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE PRECEDING
XENON PROVIDES COMPLETE
INSTRUCTIONS AND IN MOST CASES SPECIFIC HARDWARE, 3M TAPE, SCREWS AND
SPECIALIZED BRACKETS OR BRACES. THE LIST OF HARDWARE PROVIDED IS LISTED
ON PAGE TWO OF THE INSTRUCTIONS - BEFORE STARTING VERIFY THAT THEY ARE
INCLUDED.
Also verify that
you received the correct Xenon part. All part numbers are embossed on
the inside of the part. The list of part(s) is noted at the top on these
instructions.
Tools & general
materials required: #7447 Scotchbrite pads, TSP, TING, OR AJAX cleaners,
sandpaper, various hand tools, drill, 7/64" drill bits, MEK or
Acetone.
THERE ARE FOUR
PHASES TO MOST INSTALLATIONS:
- Removal of factory
parts that might interfere with the installation and TEST FIT
the parts.
- Preparation of the
parts for paint - and painting.
- Installation of the
3M tape (if applicable).
- Installation of the
parts.
Be sure to follow the
sequence. Helpful hints are provided.
PHASE 1) REMOVAL
& TEST FIT
- Remove all fender trim, body side molding or
mud flaps that might interfer with the fit of our parts.
- Test fit parts to verify excellent fit - outline with a grease pencil.
PHASE 2) PREPARATION
OF PART FOR PAINTING& PAINT (if applicable)
- CLEAN the paintable surfaces and tape ledge w/
water, one of the cleaners listed and #7447 scotch-brite pads. Our
parts have a wax based mold release and when the parts have been properly
cleaned they will be a dull gray color (not shiny & black).
- SAND edges of the parts as needed.
- FILL any slight surface imperfections, if applicable,
with "Evercoat" glazing putty & sand smooth.
- SAND all paintable surface w/ 320 wet sandpaper
- rise well - let parts dry.
- PRIME the parts with a CATALIZED primer such as
Dupont's "Europrimer".
- SAND with 600 sandpaper.
- PAINT part following manufacture's process and
proceedures.
- NEVER "Oven heat" or dry our parts above
105 F.

MEK (Methel Ethyl Ketone) can usually be purchased at a hardware
store.
- Scotch-Brite, glazing putty and TING can be purchased from automotive
paint supply stores.
- TSP is usually available at you local grocery store located
in the cleaners section. |
FOR FENDER
FLARES -
If you desire a non-gloss black paint finish you might consider DUPONT
"Black Vinyl" paint, #305 Medium.
PHASE 3) INSTALLATION
OF THE 3M TAPE
- WIPE tape ledge twice with
Acetone or MEK
- CLEAN & SCRATCH the tape ledge w/ #7447 pad
that has been slightly soaked in acetone or MED. When dry the surface
will be a dull gray color and appear to be scratched. Once again wipe
with Acetone or MEK , allow to dry.
- APPLY the tape, making sure to pull it slightly
, V cut as necessary going around curved areas and PRESS the tape
on with the handle part of scissors.
- ALLOW the part to set with the tape applied for
and hour or more - this will elp the curring process of the tape adhesive.
PHASE 4) INSTALLATION
OF THE PART (perform in a warm area above 70 degrees)
- CLEAN
surface where the tapoe will contact with a grease and wax remover
& MEK.
- PULL UP a corner of end of the red tape backing
so that it is visable outside the part edge.
- PLACE the part in it's correct position, pull the
red backing from the tape and stick the part by applying pressure
where the tape is.
- INSTALL all the screw as illustrated - DO NOT overtighten

ADHESIVES - Some installers and restylers
supliament or use in lieu of the tape a structual adhesive such
as "DURAMIX" (Manufactured by POLYMER ENGINEERING
CORP - 800.537.9204)
