Fiberglass restyling parts, such as bumpers and side skirts are unique in design to give a totally different look to your vehicle that the standard factory stock part. Their popularity arises from the need for aggressive design and a desire for a more light-weight part as is used for racing and car shows. The nature of their style sometimes calls for slight modifications to the stock vehicle such as removal of factory bumpers and supports. Fiberglass material is popular due to its lower cost to produce and ease of modification. Since these fiberglass parts are designed apart from stock they may require minor modifications in the fitting process to the vehicle. Modifications may include pushing or pulling the part in place (heating up the part to make it more flexible may help the process), shaving sections as needed where they meet up to fenders and quarter panels, trimming out sections to accommodate certain grilles or headlights, etc.

After fitting parts in place, the fiberglass then can be filled and finish sanded to smooth out and ready for paint. Most body shops can install aftermarket restyling parts, however most are used to installing factory parts only and may not be experienced in the fitting and modification process necessary for these parts. All fiberglass body kits will need some sort of modification such as filling in gaps, holes or cracks. This is normal. Each kit will need modification. We recommend that retail customers seek an experienced customizing shop to do the install on body kits who knows all the procedures of installing fiberglass body kits. We do not recommend a small collision repair shop to do installations of body kits. They usually are only experienced on installing OEM (factory) parts that are direct bolt-on, and they do not know the proper procedures of installing fiberglass body kits.
